UMR Insurance for Restorative Care

At Memphis Dentures and Implants, we accept UMR dental insurance. UMR is a third-party administrator (TPA) owned by UnitedHealthcare and one of the largest TPAs in the country. Unlike traditional insurance carriers, UMR doesn't insure plans directly. Instead, it administers self-funded dental plans on behalf of large and mid-sized employers, which means UMR plans can vary significantly from one employer to the next. This variation matters especially for patients planning dentures or implants, since coverage for these services depends entirely on how your employer designed the plan.

How UMR Plans Work for Denture and Implant Patients

Because UMR administers self-funded employer plans rather than offering a single uniform product, two UMR members can have very different benefits depending on who designed their plan. That said, most UMR-administered dental plans include coverage for the services offered at our practice:
  • Full and partial dentures typically covered at 50 percent under major services.
  • Immediate dentures covered under the same denture benefit category.
  • Extractions and oral surgery covered at 70 to 80 percent under basic services.
  • Implants included on some UMR plans, though this is one of the most variable benefits across UMR-administered plans. Some plans cover implants fully under major services, others cover only the implant crown, and some exclude implants entirely.

Working With UMR at Our Office

Our team has extensive experience working with UMR-administered plans and understands the unique nature of self-funded coverage. Before your appointment, we'll contact UMR directly to verify your eligibility, confirm your specific benefits, and identify any waiting periods, frequency limitations, or exclusions that apply to your plan.

For patients planning dentures, implants, or other major treatment, we'll also submit a pre-treatment estimate so you receive written confirmation of what UMR will pay and what your responsibility will be before any work begins. With clear numbers in hand, you can move forward with your treatment plan feeling fully informed and confident.
