Coverage Support for Unum Members
Memphis Dentures and Implants is glad to accept Unum dental insurance. Unum is best known as a leading provider of disability and life insurance, but the company also offers strong group dental benefits through employer-sponsored plans. If your employer includes dental coverage through Unum, our team will help you understand your plan, verify your benefits, and apply them effectively toward your denture or implant treatment.
What Unum Dental Plans Typically Include for Major Care
Most Unum dental plans are group PPO plans, and the major services category is where most of the benefits relevant to our patients apply:
- Full and partial dentures covered at 50 percent under major services, sometimes with a 6 to 12 month waiting period.
- Immediate dentures covered under the same denture benefit category.
- Extractions and oral surgery typically covered at 70 to 80 percent under basic services, which is especially relevant for patients transitioning to full dentures.
- Implant restorations covered on enhanced plans, with variation in whether the surgical placement, abutment, and crown are all included.
Annual maximums on Unum dental plans generally range from $1,000 to $1,500 per member, with deductibles around $50 individual and $150 family.
In-Network Versus Out-of-Network
Unum partners with established dental PPO networks to give members access to negotiated fee schedules. When you visit an in-network dentist, you typically pay less out-of-pocket because the dentist agrees to accept the network's contracted fees. This can produce meaningful savings on multi-stage treatment like dentures or full mouth restoration. Our office will confirm your network status before your appointment and explain any cost differences clearly.
How We Make Your Unum Benefits Easy to Use
For Unum members planning major work like dentures or implants, we'll submit a pre-treatment estimate to Unum so you receive written confirmation of your benefits before any treatment begins. Our insurance coordinator is happy to walk you through your plan in plain English, including any waiting periods, frequency limitations, or alternative benefit provisions that might apply, such as Unum paying the cost of a conventional denture when an implant-supported denture is planned.
